FINALLY

I actually have posted this on twitter about a month ago? xD but yeah xD

FI. NA. LLY. after more than a month of Blood, Sweat, and Tears ... My Art trade with :iconkenjikanzaki05: is DONE! XD FULLY SHADED. TEXTURED. AND EFFECTS. woooo!!!

and as I have mentioned on twitter about the mental journey thing, im gonna say it here too, so thhis is what i tweeted after i post the picture:

OKKKK so, man, this really was a journey! And well, it all started when I was kinda facing a hard time ... Mentally ... I feel like I wasnt good enough ... And well, that really put me down ... I feel that I wasnt good enough at anything, and just ... Couldnt believe in myself???

I even felt like i wasnt good enough in art ... And I was getting depressed i guess ... Like i was in a mental slump, but then I finally decided that I cant be like this forever, or else I will regret it! Plus ...

Deep down I know that I can do WAY more than that when it comes to art ... Way more then what I usually do when I draw ... So I decided to push my limits on a drawing, and well, decided to use the AT with kenji as my subject lol

So yea, I started to do the AT from 29th January, Starting the thumbnailing to find the best pose and application in perspective, and then color it in SAI, and well, I worked on the AT little by little ... And then move it to photoshop for more details such as textures & effects

Of course there are times where I feel too tired and exhausted so i ended up didnt continuing AT due to me wanting to take a break, and of course there are times I just wanted to stop giving my best for the AT and felt like : this is good enough man aghhhh

But I keep telling myself: no, I want to see how far I can go, I want to see how far I can push my limit and use all the knowledge that I have so far... And of course race against time as the AT was taking longer than I expected and then Uni started xD

And well, you have no idea how many times I check the picture again and again to make sure there are no mistakes before posting xD  and save it again and again ... That just shows how much of a perfectionist I can be when I dont want to hold back xD

So yeah ... Those insecurities, those depressive thoughts, those mental slump, I tried to fight it through giving my absolute best for this art. To show those lies in my head that I CAN do way more than I usually do, Its just that I often dont have the time & patience to do it xD

I admit, doesnt mean that those voices will go away instantly ... But at least now I have a proof of what I can do when I go full shot. And well, I am really proud of this piece ... My heart kept racing full of excitement and nervous as I post this picture ... Finally Im finished

And well, I guess this is all I have to say for now ... also I couldnt have done it without the support of my cousin xD And I thank God for giving me the patience and perseverance to keep working on this piece xD Well, hope you all like it!!!

Also, I kniw that me and kenji agreed to make the AT simple with simple backgrounds, but yea I cant help it man I needed a subject to fight against thise bad feelings

ALSO, one more thing! I just hope that I will be able to improve more, even MORE than this next time as time goes by xD

so yeah guys XD this piece of art trade was a mental journey for me to fight against my insecurities basically. and I am really proud of this piece, probably my current best art that display my current knowledge XD, but still i hope i can improve more than this one day~

and hope you all like it!!!

First off, I have to say I really love your use of pattern detail on her clothing. I try doing detail on clothing like that, and it often looks odd.   The overall composition is quite nice, with everything leading from the ground, up through the body, and to the moon above. The circular cloud pattern also works very well here and looks quite nice.  Clouds are not the easiest thing to paint, mine always seem to end up looking too heavy. A way to have pushed this even further might have been to have angled out the low leg standing on the object a bit further, creating more of a 'triangle' set up pointing that leg back to the focal point as well.  The buildings also seem to be suggesting this idea, but they deviate from their directional path, weakening the effect. Another thing you can do with the buildings to push them back further adds a slightly foggy haze to them, 'blurring' them from vision slightly to make them appear to be less in focus.  Look up images with long shots and objects receding into the background and see how the ones in the back behave. There is a tutorial that I wish I still had that covers this subject well, I would send it to you.

The motion line is also quite good, but things like the long hair and tail do not really feel to be in motion, but static.  The pose could be further 'pushed' in order to achieve more energy. (Such as having even more of a curve in her body line from the foot through the torso, and up through the shoulders.)

The electric crackle is very nice on the damaged 'creature', and the use of textures on her boots, the ground and the buildings and other surfaces give some nice variation to the visual. However, your sight sources do not seem to be very well established, and the character ends up looking flat and losing form because of it. It looks as though the moon should be your primary lighting, but barely seems to affect the character at all, and where the light source from the ground is coming is not apparent, despite it being so bright.  What might have given some more form here would be to have used the moon and orb as the primary light sources, and the ground to bring in 'backlighting' to help give some more definition to the edges that are very dark.  Much like the orb, the lightning effect to should cast at least a faint light to her larger boot if nothing else.
It is possible to tell what each of the objects are in the image, so the lighting is defined enough to show that, but my suggestion would be to work on directional lighting and backlighting to make the image pop further and take on more physical shape.

Those are the biggest things I can think of.  I hope this helps. ^.^
